A number of restaurants and shopping establishments in Lake Oswego are demonstrating their ongoing support for the Lake Oswego School District Foundation over the holidays by donating a portion of their proceeds to the Foundation.

The LOSDF Downtown Shop-ping Day is set for Friday, Nov. 27, right after Thanksgiving.

Eight Lake Os-wego merchants have agreed to donate 10 percent of their sales for the day to the Foundation. All in downtown Lake Oswego, these vendors include: Accessories from the Heart, Chuck’s Place, The Pine Needle, Lakeside Gifts, Chrisman Frame Shop, Grapevine, R Blooms and Graham’s Book & Stationery.

One week later, on Dec. 4, and for the second year in a row, Port City Pasta, in Lake Place Center, will host a gala food and wine tasting starting at 6 p.m., donating 100 percent of every $10 tasting fee to the Foundation.

“This support is so generous and overwhelming,” said Mary Puskas, executive director of the Foun-dation. “The Foundation gets a huge boost from our business sponsors and this group includes some of our most consistent supporters. We hope everyone in Lake Oswego dines and shops at these establishments in the coming weeks, but particularly on the specified donation days.”

The Foundation is a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to raise funds to hire or retain teachers in the LO school district. Last year the Foundation raised approximately $1.6 million from residents and businesses.

In addition to those participating in the holiday campaign described here, many other businesses support the Foundation. Over the coming months, the Foundation hopes to partner with all of its sponsoring businesses in dual efforts to bring buyers to the businesses in exchange for some form of donation back to the Foundation.

“We’re really trying to make this a win-win-win proposition,” said Puskas. “By encouraging residents to support these establishments, we keep our city and schools vibrant, which in turn adds to the quality of life in Lake Oswego. Residents, businesses and the Foundation all stand to benefit from these efforts.”
