The Lake Oswego Swim Club will hold its annual Swim-A-Thon on April 25, at the district swiming pool on the campus of Lake Oswego High School. The club would like to challenge the community to participate in the Swim-A-Thon, alongside their swimmers.
“USA Swimming, the sport’s governing body, encourages swim clubs to host Swim-A-Thons to help raise money for their clubs,” said Barbara Keany, a club parent. “It’s also a great team bonding experience for the swimmers – they really enjoy it.”
Participants receive flat or per-length pledges prior to the event. On the day of the Swim-A-thon, swimmers have two hours to swim a maximum of 200 lengths of the pool, with coaches and parents acting as counters and cheerleaders. The event is always a lot of fun, and will include music and refreshments for participants.
Any proficient swimmer can enter. Swim on your own or put together a four-person “celebrity” team of friends, family members or co-workers, etc. Registration is $25 per person and includes pool entry and Swim-A-Thon t-shirt.
Swimmers are asked to register by April 18. Complete registration details are available by clicking on the Swim-A-Thon logo on LOSC’s Web site, www.lakeoswegoswimclub.org .
LOSC is a USA Swimming club with a long-standing tradition of excellence, offering swimming instruction for the novice to the nationally ranked swimmer. The club is currently 130-plus members strong, ranging in age from 5 to 18. LOSC currently holds six National Age Group records, 65 Oregon Swimming records, numerous Top 20 National Rankings and is home to two 2008 Olympic Trials qualifiers.
