A food drive that will help hungry Lake Oswego people beyond Thanksgiving will be held Nov. 13 to 20. Della Rae, left, founder of Donors Resource, is leading the effort. Providing a food dropoff center at Realty Trust Group will be Justin Harnish of Harnish Properties and office manager Sue Ann Bearden.

Della Rae always wants to do her part to help families enjoy a big Thanksgiving meal.
She was recently getting set to distribute 10 turkeys provided by the Windermere Corporation. But then she met with counselors and psychologists of the Lake Oswego School District and was surprised by what they told her:
Many Lake Oswego families have a need for food that goes beyond one big meal on one day.
“The need is right in Lake Oswego,” said Rae. “These needs need to be met right now.”
The founder and development director of Donors Resource, Rae is one of those people who, when she sees a need, she goes out and does something about it. She has started a food drive to be held Nov. 13 to 20 in downtown Lake Oswego.
City residents will be asked to drop off a wide variety of staple foods at Realty Trust Group at 600 A Ave. from Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
“I know people want to give,” Rae said. “This is a perfect opportunity to get children involved. They can even start their own pantry. There is no reason kids should be hungry, especially here in Lake Oswego.”
