Hitting the big time

An excerpt from the Lake Oswego Review’s Police Blotter was read Monday night on NBC’s Jay Leno Show.

The talk show host does a “Headlines” segment every Monday, showing headlines, text and photos from around the nation that tickle his funny bone.

The smirking Leno displayed a page from the Review and read the following:

“A Lake Oswego woman spent 20 minutes talking dirty on the telephone before she realized the caller was not her boyfriend. She later contacted police to report the incident.”

After reading it, a tickled Leno looked at his studio audience and asked:

“Why? What do you say? Why would you call the police? ... (do you want to get them to call the guy to say) Hey, call me back!”

To "Yeehaw"

Gosh...lighten up. It's not stupid, it's fun. You've heard of that haven't you? Every person I know that reads the Lake Oswego Review talks about how much they enjoy reading the police blotter. No need to be so insulting.

Re: Hitting the big time

This Police Blotter is 'Hitting the big time' again because it was published in the Lake Oswego Review on Oct. 19th 2000. I sent it to Jay Leno for his "Headlines" segment and he read it a month later on Nov.20th 2000.

Re: Hitting the big time

Kind of disappointed to know he's recycling material like this, even if it is mine. But better to make the Leno show for this kind of thing than for an accidentally suggestive headline, or one of those "suspect was not arrested for murder, but for speeding" corrections.
