ADVERTISEMENTS

During a special Riverdale School Board meeting held on Monday, the board accepted Superintendent Terry Hoagland’s resignation effective June 30, 2010.

Hoagland joined the Riverdale School District on July 1, 2008. During his tenure, the district succeeded in passing a $21.5 million bond levy and jumpstarted the process of building the new Riverdale Grade School building. Hoagland has helped the district to continue its history of academic excellence and to maintain economic stability in a fragile funding environment. Hoagland is presently overseeing grade school construction, which remains on time and on budget.

According to a release Wednesday, the district is grateful for his hard work and dedication to Riverdale students, present and future.

Hoagland has been a teacher and administrator for more than 30 years. Though the two years at Riverdale have been rewarding, according to Hoagland, they helped him fully realize that his educational passion lies in using his curricular expertise to assist low-achieving students in making academic growth. With Riverdale’s academic success already recognized statewide, Hoagland hopes to complete his educational career in a district that provides him with the opportunity to make a measurable impact on academic progress

Over the next several weeks, the Riverdale School Board will begin the search for a new superintendent to ensure that the position will be filled by July 1.

Re: Hoagland to step down as Riverdale superintendent

Now here's an idea for you older folks out there who remember....Find a clone of Eva Campbell (Riverdale's first principal. The first thing she would do is tear down the new grade school and rebuild the old one. Next, she would arm herself with a large ruler and swat the school board members on the rear like she did me in the 1950's. They have it coming...so did I.
