* Santa Claus.
If all that isn’t enough to put you into the holiday spirit, nothing will, and the fun all starts at 5 p.m. at Bigelow Plaza on A Avenue and Fifth Street.
After greetings and salutations from LO Chamber CEO Jerry Wheeler, Hoffman will make his debut as a tree lighter. Performing will be chorale groups from Lake Oswego High School.
Then a couple thousand attendees will trek over to Millennium Plaza Park for a second tree lighting. Hot drinks and food will be generously passed out, while the Company musical group of Lakeridge High School will perform a holiday musical favorites.
Capping off the evening, Santa Claus, escorted by Lake Oswego’s firefighters and police officers, will arrive to accept gift wish lists from an overwhelming number of children.
“It’s a great event,” says long-time volunteer Chuck O’Leary. “It never fails to get people in the holiday mood.”
Heading up the Holiday Tree Lighting will be chamber staff members Wheeler, Lori Lauber, Sandra Kaufman and Sean Mingogue.
Sponsors include the Safeway, Starbuck’s, the Lake Oswego Review, Moonstruck Chocolates, Prudential Northwest Properties, and Tree Care & Landscaping.

Call it what it is, it's a Christmas tree. The season is Christmas season. If you cannot get it past your political correctness to call it what it is, your just a son of a grinch.

Two GIANT trees? Most people couldn't even figure out what was lighting up when they announced the lighting. There were kids all over looking for hot chocolate and there was none. By having the trees right behind the band and the coffee behind that the congestion in that area was bad and yet previously due to the entertainment at one end, the tree at the other, the things were spread out better. This was certainly not the best experience to have 5 kids under the age of 8!!!

Re: Big trees to light up in LO Nov. 27
Once upon a time a property owner could go out onto their property and cut a tree that they had planted for annual Christmas festivities. Now it is a code violation punishable by stiff fines. For the City, trees represent a kind of year-round gifting from tree cutting permits and tree code violations.
Every time you plant a tree, you assign your right to future use of your property to the City. Eventually a deed restriction will be required.
