Lake Oswego had no idea what to expect from Alaska's defending state champions from Juneau-Douglas. Turns out it didn't matter. The Lakers dominated the Crimson Bears, taking a 35-3 lead at the half and letting the reserves get valuable playing time the rest of the way in a 35-10 rout.
Juneau-Douglas threw an unorthodox offense at Lake Oswego, often lining up with no wide receivers. Instead, the Crimson Bears relied on a variety of misdirection hand-offs and quarterback keepers.
But the Lakers weren't fooled by any of it. Lake Oswego was stopped on fourth down during its opening drive and then forced the Crimson Bears to punt.
On the first play of its second possession, Lake Oswego's Jack Lomax hit Micah Hatfield along the sideline for an 82-yard touchdown pass. And, on their next possession, the Lakers only needed one play once again. This time Lomax hit Nick Rulli for a 52-yard strike.
Early in the second quarter, Lake Oswego regained possession and Tyson Coleman handled most of the load, carrying the ball four times and eventually scoring from one yard out.
