In front of thousands of rabid fans, scores of cameras and a national television audience, the Lake Oswego Lakers staged a dramatic rally to knock off No. 1 Jesuit 36-33 at home on Friday night.

With both student bodies well represented to watch what has quickly become one of the best rivalries in the state, the Lakers came back from a two-touchdown deficit in the fourth quarter and then marched 66 yards in just over a minute for the clinching score to top a Crusader team that had looked nearly unbeatable in two previous contests.

The game began with a flurry of highlight reel plays that proved to be just the appetizer for the evening. Jesuit marched down the field efficiently in 10 plays with Anthony Blake eventually scoring from one yard out.

On Lake Oswego's first play from scrimmage, Jack Lomax hit Micah Hatfield for an 84-yard touchdown to knot the score.

Then Blake ran the kick-off back for a touchdown. After the Lakers failed to come away with points from inside the red zone, Jesuit put together another good drive with Dylan Jackson scoring on a three-yard run, giving the Crusaders a 19-7 lead.

Hatfield returned the ensuing kick-off to the five-yard line and Tyson Coleman punched the ball in three plays later.

The score stayed at 19-13 at the half and Jesuit scored first after the break with quarterback Scott Williams getting into the end zone from one yard out. A two-point conversion made it a 14-point game.
