Lake Oswego head coach Steve Coury was worried about how his team would respond after its dramatic and emotional victory over previously No. 1 Jesuit last week. Well, if this was a letdown game for the Lakers, the rest of the state ought to be pretty frightened.
The Lakers scored touchdowns on their first five possessions of the game effectively putting it away by halftime in a 41-14 rout of Clackamas.
Lake Oswego made the most of its first game as the state's No. 1 ranked team. It took two plays to put points on the board with Tyson Coleman taking a shovel pass from Jack Lomax and running 73 yards for a score just over one minute into the game.
Micah Hatfield then picked off a Ben Parsons pass and, three plays later, Lomax found Coleman on the left sideline and he made a spectacular catch for his second touchdown of the night. A failed two-point conversion attempt made the score 12-0.
Clackamas responded with a solid drive keyed by catches from Ben Adler and Matt Nylen. The drive took 15 plays and eventually Trevor Liske got into the end zone on a two-yard run, cutting the lead to 12-6.
