ADVERTISEMENTS
The Renegade softball team, made up primarily of players from Lake Oswego, recently went on to capture the ASA 2009 Softball State Championship.
The Renegade offense was so stellar that eight girls hit over .400 for the tournament. The Renegades also averaged more than nine runs a game. Just as impressive as the offense, the Renegade defense was spectacular, allowing just one run or less in three of the five games.
Of the five games required to win the state championship the Renegades only had to play the full seven innings once.
In Game 1 the Renegades defeated Dave's Food Mart of Pendleton 13-1 in five innings.
Game 2 was similar as the Renegades disposed of the Aloha Breeze 10-0 in five innings.
Game 3 was a dogfight in which the Renegades defeated South Medford 8-6 in four innings as time expired.
In Game 4 the Renegades defeated the Willamette Valley Fastpitch 10-1 in five innings.
And in the championship game the Renegades again faced Willamette Valley Fastpitch and defeated them 7-4 in seven innings.
