The Lakeridge girls basketball team has been quietly rattling off wins early in the preseason this year heading into the Interstate Shootout.
Prior to a slip-up against a very strong team from Willamette, the Pacers had won four straight games and the young team continues to improve from game to game.
Last week Lakeridge picked up a tough 38-37 win at Forest Grove, grinding out a win in a game where it simply didn't play its best game.
"We haven't been playing that well on the road but it's good to be in that kind of a game," coach Katy Wilson said.
Forest Grove held the lead for the majority of the contest but Lakeridge rallied to play its best basketball of the night in the final few minutes.
The Pacers played sound defense all game long and finally found a spark late in the game to erase the deficit and earn the narrow win.
That was the first of four consecutive road games for Lakeridge. Next up was a solid 51-34 victory over Aloha leading into a 49-40 win over Centennial last Saturday.
Against the Eagles, the Pacers got off to a terrific start. Lakeridge's offense was clicking as point guard Kyleigh Young picked apart the opposing defense.
