Lake Oswego continued to have the ball on Lakeridge’s side of the field but the Pacers continued to mount charges on quick counter attacks when those opportunities presented themselves.
Laker goalie Ashleigh Anderson made a terrific save when she came out of the net to stymie Landreth but, just a few minutes later, the Pacers got the ball to Kathryn Little. She held off two defenders, found an opening and scored on a pretty shot with 16 minutes to play.
The game was tied at 2-2 and the Pacers nearly scored again a few minutes later off of a corner kick.
Just when it seemed like the game might have been heading for a tie, Gabbie Lindeman fed a ball to Richmond who knocked her shot off the far post and into the net for what would be the game-winner.
Lake Oswego’s Melinda Madden nearly scored a few minutes later when her shot from an awkward angle glanced off the crossbar.
Lakeridge’s final chance came in the closing minutes of the game when a ball was sent into the goal box and was knocked around dangerously for a few seconds before it was finally cleared.
Lake Oswego sits at 2-0-1 in league after a 2-2 tie with Clackamas last week and is tied with the Cavaliers for first place. The Pacers are 0-1-1 but have played two of the league’s top teams.
Last Thursday, Lakeridge gave up an early goal to West Linn and played from behind for virtually the entire game before Landreth got behind the defense and scored in the final 10 minutes to earn a tie for the Pacers.
Lake Oswego plays at Milwaukie tonight (Thursday) while Lakeridge takes on Putnam at home.
